Younger Brother
Born in May 2000, Tiago is the younger brother of Gabriël, and a very lively, happy boy.
Petting Zoo
One day, when Tiago was almost two years old, we were staying at my mom's house for a few days.
My mother explained to the kids that there was a petting zoo in the neighbourhood, which we might visit the next day, if the weather was good.
At one night, Tiago woke up at about 2am, because he had to go to the toilet. So I led him to the bathroom, sat him on the toilet, and waited. From the room next door, I heard my mother's snoring, loud and clear.
Tiago heard it too, lifted his hand, stuck his index finger beside his ear, and said with a surprised face: "I hears petting zoo!"
Drinking Tea
Last week Gabriël went on a day trip with his school class, and Tiago was still too young (one week before turning four) to go, so I promised him that we would go do something nice together that day.
I asked him what he would like to do, maybe we could go to the petting zoo, or maybe even the real Zoo? Tiago thought about it, then gave me a huge smile, and with the most happy look on his face, he said: "Or we could stay home and drink tea together!"
The night before I asked him again, and he was still looking forward to drinking tea. I said we could also go to the city and drink tea there, if he wanted, and told him he should think about what he wanted to do tomorrow.
The next morning after waking up, he immediately started talking to his brother: "You know what mum and I are going to do today? We are going to drink tea first, then we'll go to the city and drink tea again, and then we will eat French fries... hmm... I wonder what toy they'll have..."
So I asked him: "Are you talking about McDonald's?" "No," he replied being dead serious, "I'm talking about the McDonald's toy!"
In the end we did indeed have tea at home first, which he liked very much, and then went to the city to have fries at McDonald's. We also took a ride on a tram, got off near the river, and because it was such a beautiful sunny day, we decided to lie in the grass by the river for a while. After a long walk past the water, and walking to the end of every single pier we passed, we took the underground home.
A really great day, for both of us :-)
By the way, check out the pictures of Tiago's last day in preschool which was the week before last.
